Decorative Painting

Make your home unique with decorative painting in any room.

Shutters with ivy tailing down are painted round the window in the guest bedroom.  They were in an older home in a small room under the eaves where the ceiling sloped down to the window.  It really made the space cozy and inviting and definitely added charm to an otherwise plain room.

I used wall compound applied with a putty knife then put a brown glaze on top.  It gives the space texture and an old antiqued look.  Then I painted a grapevine on top of that.

I painted grapes and grapevines around the backsplash instead of using tile.  The painting makes the space unique and beautiful.  Grapes and fruit are classic designs for kitchen spaces.

This homeowner loves birds.   I painted different birds, nests and trees on the kitchen valence.

This is a teen girls bedroom.  She loves bright colors and chose this yellow for the walls.  We thought it was very bright so I left one wall plain but added a yellow ochre glaze to the other walls to mute them a little.  Then I painted daisies around the room.  They add whimsy and charm and make it a very bright, cheerful room.

I painted these flowers on the walls in the breakfast nook.
They match the design on the drapes over the opposite window.

Splitting the design as it goes through the moulding adds interest and charm.

I painted a faux finish on the walls before adding the vine with assorted autumn leaves and acorns.  They have a water colored look with several colors blending together like they do in nature.

A faux finish is accompanied by autumn leaves painted under the crown moulding in the living room.

There is a large window on one wall.  I painted the vines draping around the windows on either side to add interest.

The medallion around the chandelier was painted with antique colors.  Then the victorian scroll work  around the mirror was used as inspiration for the surrounding design.  You can see me taking the picture in the mirror.  You can really get a crick in your neck when painting on the ceiling!

The homeowner wanted monochromatic scroll work painted around the ceiling in the guest bath.

Simplicity can be quite effective.

This is the master bath.  The design consists of vines, wisteria, blossoms and pods.  I learned it from one of my favorite artists, Donna Dewberry.  She is an expert on flowers and a fabulous artist!  Thank you Donna!  I'm one of your biggest fans!

Recovering from heart surgery, the homeowner wanted to wake up to a positive thought.  This quote from the bible is painted above the closet doors in the master bedroom.
